Future Problems
Many future problems will exist for this reef (as with any reef) including tourism and global warming.
Tourism will increase the number of divers diving off the island and unfortunately this will damage the reef.
Chemicals used in agriculture could run off into a river and out to sea thus poisoning the reef.
Sewage is another big problem. Sewage gets shoved into large treatment centres then the half polluted water is dumped in a river and then out to sea and quite possibly poisoning the reef.
People dropping wrappers and drink bottles can take a number of paths to get to the sea; they could be blown into drains and then carried out to sea by the drain water or they could be blown of a promenade and into the sea.
Every time a boat goes out it releases oil and fuel into the sea just by moving. And if the captain of that boat is not very careful they could run aground on the reef. This would damage the reef by destroying its foundations and the polyps that give the reef life.
